Questions to ask a rescue group or organization:

1. Does the rescue organization provide proof that the dog is really homeless?

2. Will the rescue organization share their history about the health, behavior, and temperment of the homeless or surrendered dog?

3. Does the rescue organization interview potential adopters using 2 or more methods; like a written application, phone interview, home visit, face to face interview?

4. Does the rescue organization sterilize and microchip all rescue animals?

5. Will the rescue organization provide any current vet records before placing a rescued dog?

6. Is the adopter at least 18 years of age?

7. Does the rescue organization have a written contract which openly tells all health and temperment information about the rescue animal?

8.  Does the rescue organization provide follow up support and advice to adopters?

9.  Does the rescue organization take back any rescue animal at the request of the adopter?
